The Director General of the public enterprise “Serbian Railways” Milovan Marković, have signed today the Contract for refurbishment of the building for the underfloor wheel lathe accommodation with “GINEX INTERNATIONAL” company from Slovenia, the project value amounts to somewhat more than EUR=1,3 million. In the name of Slovenian company the contract was signed by Primož Ule, the director of Ginex International.
The signing of this contract was attended by Ministar Assistant for railway transport within the Ministry of Infrastructure

Dejan Lasica and arepresentative of the European bank for Reconstruction and Development Mirjana Milovanović.
– This project realisation is being financed by the loan in the amount of EUR=60 million, which was granted by the European bank for reconstruction and development to “Serbian Railways” for freight wagons and underfloor wheel lathe procurement, as well as the building refurbishment in which it shall be accommodated,- said the General Director of Serbian Railways Milovan Marković.
In accordance with the Contract with the European bank for reconstruction and development, “Serbian Railways” chose the Marchalling yard Makiš as the most suitable location for underfloor wheel accommodation, in which facilites for rolling stock maintenance are located.
The building for underfloor wheel lathe accommodation has been planned to be completed in four-month period upon signing of the contract.
-Apart from the building refurbishment for underwheel lathe accommodation, “Serbian Railways” has been financing new freight cars and underwheel lathe procurement out of the European bank for reconstruction and development credit. The procurement for 770 new freight cars, in the amount of EUR=56.3 million has been agreed upon with the Swiss company IRS. 334 freight cars have been delivered so far, and delivery of all wagons has been planned to be finalized by the end of this year. The contract worth EUR=860 thousand for under wheel lathe delivery has been concluded with the company “Hegenscheidt”. By completion of the building refurbishment for underfloor wheel lathe accommodation, the European bank for Reconstruction and Development credit shall be realised- Marković pointed out.
The director of the Slovenian company Ginex International Primož Ule, expressed the great pleasure for this company contributions to modernization of Serbian Railways and highlighted that the Contract shall be completely, timely and with quality realised.
The Ministar Assistant Dejan Lasica announced that, in the forthcoming four years Serbian railways will be considerably more modern and effective, and that the service quality of passenger and freight transport will be improved. He also announced the activities that the Ministry of Infrastructure will take for the purpose of new railway rolling stock procurement.
