Representatives of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and “Serbian Railways” are close to agree on remarks and suggestions regarding the design of tender documentation for the procurement of 1100 freight wagons, worth 60 million euros, and one under floor wheel lathe – said the Director of Transport Investments, Nikola Tojagic in his statement for Media Center.

According to his words, after this procurement, Serbian Railways’ rolling stock fleet will have additional 2100 wagons, since 600 freight cars that has been out of service, will be sent for reconstruction, and another 400 should be leased in accordance with an international tender already announced.

Last year Serbian Railways have taken an extremely favorable credit line 60 million EUR worth from EBRD, where 58,5 millions will be intended for the provision of freight wagons, and the rest of 1,5 for the procurement of a wheel lathe. Thus, Serbian Railways will be able to satisfy all the requests for transport given by Serbian economy. Last year the railways have had a daily lack of 2000 freight wagons.
