– “Serbian Railways” has, by its international actions and with the full support of state authorities, hindered the so called Kosovo Railways to become member of International Union of Railways (UIC) and of Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) – said the Director General of “Serbian Railways”, Milanko Sarancic.

During the previous week, General Assemblies of these two most important international railway organizations took place in Berlin. The work of the General Assemblies was attended by “Serbian Railways” delegation, headed by the Director General, Milanko Sarancic.

– The so called Kosovo Railways submitted the official application for membership in UIC and CER. However, thanks to the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, railway diplomacy and our intensive actions, these proposals were not on the agenda of General Assemblies, whereby the initiative of the so called Kosovo Railways was completely rejected and failed – stated Sarancic.

Anyway, a series of issues significant to development of railway traffic in Europe have been discussed during the General Assemblies.
