„Serbian Railways“ Director General Dragoljub Simonović: Invitation to tender for construction of Prokop was sent today, financing from Kuwait loan

-” Serbian Railways “have announced today an invitation to tenders in the open procedure for the phase 1 of reconstruction of traffic capacities at railway station Belgrade Center in Prokop. Financing of works is secured through the loan of the Kuwait Fund of Arab Economic Development and the worth of the loan is KWD10 million, that is almost EUR 26 million, so that the invitation has been announced today also in this country. The tender includes capacities for acceptance, dispatch and traffic control in Belgrade Center, as well as complete reconstruction of electro-technical infrastructure in Prokop. Public invitation is opened till February 24, and it defines that the deadline for execution of works is 420 days, and criteria for offer selection will be the lowest price offered. In this way „Serbian Railways“ intensify activities on completion of Belgrade railway junction construction and create precondition for successful realization of “Belgrade on Water” project, which is very significant for the whole Serbia and for local construction companies, which will have an opportunity to confirm their quality and performance through work – said today „Serbian Railways“ Director General Dragoljub Simonović.

Invitation for tenders in the open procedure of the public procurement of works on the reconstruction of capacities for acceptance, dispatch and traffic control in the railway station Belgrade center – first phase includes: Construction of the tracks 3, 4, 7 and 8 and reconstruction of existing tracks 9 and 10, procurement of track materials for the tracks 1 and 2, finishing and craftworks in subways and on platforms, manufacturing and installation of the information system with pictograms to inform and direct the passengers, rehabilitation of the hydro insulation on the slab at the level 105, overhead contact line and construction of 4 power sub-stations, electric energy and telecommunication installations and systems in subways and on platforms, dispatching devices and local cables network, securing of the station Belgrade Center, open line junction Karadjordjev Park and Dedinje with electronic signaling and safety devices and reconstruction of the station signaling box.

Contract on Loan was signed on December 10, 2012. Tender Documentation was harmonized with the Kuwaiti partners at the end of 2013.
Currently the station “Prokop” is used only by trains of city railways “BG Voz” and the realization of this project will enable local, regional and international passenger trains to use this station.

As soon as the “Prokop” is completed, the old railway station will be relocated from Karađorđeva Street i.e. from the center of Belgrade, what will contribute to shortening of lines of all trains passing through the capital city on one hand, and clearing up of 80 acres of attractive land in the Sava amphitheater on the other hand. In that way Belgrade will have a modern, up to date equipped railway station, which will be able to connect urban and interurban traffic and to accept all international passenger trains in transit.
