“Serbian Railways” and Petroleum Industry of Serbia have signed a Contract on the Supply of Diesel Fuel at favourable rates today in Belgrade.
The Contract was signed by Mr. Milovan Marković, Director General, on behalf of Serbian Railways, and by Mr. Arkadi Jegizarian, Executive Director of NIS Petrol, on behalf of Petroleum Industry of Serbia.
In the past two months, with the strong support from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, “Serbian Railways” have

succeeded in settling their debts to NIS amounting to approx. RSD 220 million. Consequently, the conditions were fulfilled for Serbian Railways and Petroleum Industry of Serbia to sign today a Contract on the Supply of Diesel Fuel at favourable rates for railway needs.
This Contract will enable Serbian Railways to achieve major financial savings at annual level, in accordance with the overall activities of the Company in respect of rationalization of operational expenses.
Representatives of two companies have pointed out that railway functioning is of outmost importance for the entire Serbia and that regular supply of fuel is one of the basic requirements for the above. Signing of the contract represents continuing of a very successful cooperation between these two companies, which will contribute to further development of mutual business relations and better capacity utilization.
– I believe that in the following period we will need more fuel than we did so far, since this will mean that Serbian Railways have increased their operations and that our trains will carry more goods and passengers – said “Serbian Railways” Director General, Milovan Marković.
With the full support and assistance from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the activities are underway in respect of Serbian Railways regulating their financial and overall business relations with Serbian Power Supply Company.
