New railway bridge over the Velika Morava river will be built by “Alpine”

– New railway bridge over the Velika Morava river on the Jovac – Ćuprija section on the international railway line Belgrade – Niš, on Corridor 10, will be built by Alpine (Austria) – Meteorit (Slovenia) whose tender was evaluated as the most successful one, was decided by the Management Board of “Serbian Railways” after the respective services of Serbian Railways had carried out the entire tender procedure.

The operation is almost EUR 8.9 million worth and the international tender was participated by nine tenderers. No objection to the entire tendering procedure and selection of the most successful tenderer was also issued by the European Investment Bank from whose loan this project is going to be financed.

Namely, the European Investment Bank has granted a loan to Serbian Railways in the amount of 80 million EUR for the implementation of the so called “Railway Rehabilitation Project II”. Implementation of this loan is under way and the funds are intended for modernization of lines on Corridor 10 as follows: Gilje-Ćuprija-Paraćin section between Belgrade and Niš and Batajnica – Golubinci section between Belgrade and Šid.

Modernization of Batajnica – Golubinci line, including the construction of 7.5 km long new line section between Stara Pazova and Golubinci, was completed at the end of 2009. Section between Stara Pazova and Golubinci was the only single track line between Belgrade and Šid, on this part of Corridor 10. After the modernization, Batajnica – Golubinci section became the first line in Serbia along which the trains can operate at the speed of 160 km/h.

In the following period the modernization of line Gilje-Ćuprija-Paraćin between Belgrade and Niš, including the construction of a new railway bridge between Jovac and Ćuprija, will be implemented.
