Cooperation between Serbian and Bulgarian Railways

“Serbian Railways” and BDZ (Bulgarian Railways) are planning to launch new railway border crossing between these two countries in Eastern Serbia – said Milanko Sarancic, Director General of “Serbian Railways”, after the meeting with Ginev Antov, Director of National Company for Infrastructure at Bulgarian Railways.

This would be a new railway line, 30 kilometers long.

Sarancic specified it would be a joint investment of Serbian and Bulgarian Railways. The line would be connected to Corridor 10 via Zajecar.

They notified that the cooperation between these two railway enterprises is constantly growing, and also made agreements on several important activities, essential for future functioning of the companies.

During the meeting, they had a discussion on railway connections between the North of Bulgaria and Negotin in Eastern Serbia, and other lines as well, since the demand for railway service is constantly growing, particularly in this part of Europe.

Attendees also discussed the future repair and electrification of the Eastern branch of Corridor 10, the line Nis-Dimitrovgrad.

They appraise the work of Dimitrovgrad Station, as a joint border station, as very important.

The next meeting of the CEOs of these two railway companies, including experts from CIP Institute of Transportation, will be organized in a month in Bulgaria.
