Approaching revitalization of Belgrade-Bar railway line

“In addition to the international Corridor 10, the most important railway line in Serbia is the line Belgrade-Bar, built 31 years ago”, said Director General of Serbian Railways, Milanko Sarancic, on the occasion of an international tourism event called “Spa Festival” in Vrnjacka Banja (May 27-29). In connection with that, he announced further investments in Montenegrin railway infrastructure.

Sarancic pointed out that Italian Government is interested in the project of revitalization of the line Belgrade-Bar.

“The project worth 350 million Euros will be executed in cooperation between CIP and Italian company Eurofer”, he specified, and added that with expected warranties of Serbian Government, we would have significant investments enabling us to eliminate slow drive sections and widen tunnels, explicitly to improve railway transport.
Director General of Serbian Railways said that the line Belgrade-Bar is very important, both for passenger and freight service, including the new container transport offer.

According to his words, Serbian Railways will continue highlighting their special offer consisting of “Romantika” and “Blue Train”, investing as much as possible in “Sargan Eight” in Mokra Gora, and other structures in Belgrade, Vranje and Vrnjci Spa.

Serbian Spas and Resorts Association in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Services hosted 18th International Spa Festival, opened by Goran Petkovic, State Secretary for Economy and Regional Development. He said that in Serbia, tourism is an economy branch for future, export oriented, with spa tourism as an important aspect.
Mayor of Vrnjacka Banja, Rodoljub Dzamic welcomed all the guests, visitors and media representatives. According to his words, this summer in spa hotels full board will amount 1.300 to 4.000 Dinars, while bed and breakfast will cost from 350 to 800 Dinars a day.

According to Spa festival hosts, expected number of visitors for 2007 is 20.000 tourists and businessmen.
