Agreement of Serbian Railways and Slovenia: Cargo 10,joint project in international freight traffic, must be started as soon as possible

-„CARGO 10“, project and joint enterprise of railways of Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia in international railway freight traffic, urgently needs to start and to be accelerated in order to redirect significant quantities of freights from the roads and other railway lines to the main Corridor 10. In a following month “Serbian Railways” will prepare the proposition on how to intensify activities on launching the project “Cargo 10” and after that the positions will be harmonized on the expert teams meeting in Slovenia and the promotionof the joint offer
in the international freight railway traffic on Corridor 10 will be organized on the Logistic Fair, early June in Munich.

This was concluded today in Belgrade during the meeting of Serbian Railways Director General Dragoljub Simonović, with delegation of Slovenian Railways, which were represented by Director General Dušan Mes. The topic of the meeting was how to accelerate activities on reviving the international project „Cargo 10“ in freight railway traffic, which is jointly organized by „Serbian Railways“, Slovenian Railways, Croatian Railways.

– Serbian Railways will, in future, undertake organizational and normative activities in order to reduce freight trains travel time through our country as much as it is possible. Just by reducing time needed for the border formalities we will be able to reduce the travel time of international freight trains for couple of hours and with better transport organization within the project Cargo 10 will make the transport efficient. Serbian Railways support this project and we are also backed up by the Ministry of Transport and now it is up to expert railway teams to do that as soon as possible, – said Serbian Railways Director General Dragoljub Simonović.

The leaders of two railway administration agreed that common offer in international traffic must be more competitive regarding the price and speed of transportation. In order to achieve that, joint company Cargo 10 will have to go an extra mile in order to meet clients demands, to reduce the travel time as much as possible, and reduce keeping the trains on borders due to border and customs formalities, but also to perform all administrative formalities without intermediaries and at one place.

Within the project Cargo 10, more that k40 t wooden pallets have been transported so far from Paraćin to Segiana in Italy, and that represents the best recommendation in order to intensify these activities.

Slovenian Railways representatives announce the possibility to include Italian Railway in into the offer of Cargo 10, aiming to jointly appear on the transport market in a more quality and competitive manner, as well as to expand the offer to Macedonia. It was also agreed that Serbian Railway accelerate freight wagons repair in a facilities of MIN Niš in order to realize as soon as possible transportation of quartz sand for Slovenian needs.
