Beginning of Modernization of the Section “G” – Rakovica – Resnik, on Niš Railway Line

The Section “G” – Rakovica – Resnik, which is 7.5 km long, is being reconstructed for the first time after 30 years. I would like to congratulate all the workers and the Chinese contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation – CCECC, for the beginning of the work – said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic on 30 March 2017 at the railway station Resnik.

Director General of the CCECC expressed his gratitude for the given trust and said that the contractor would finish all the work on time.

Counselor for political affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. TIAN Yishu, said that the day of the beginning of modernization of the railway line is also very important day for the bilateral cooperation and expressed his expectation for the project to end successfully. “Relations between China and Serbia are developing rapidly and Serbia, especially after last year’s visit of the President of China Xi Jinping Shining, has a leading role in the context of cooperation between China and the 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe,” said Yishu.

EBRD Director for Serbia Daniel Berg was also present at the gathering, as well as representatives of Serbian railway companies.

Modernization of the Section “G” – Rakovica – Resnik is EUR 23.7 million worth, and it is being financed from the EBRD loan. This section is on Beograd-Mladenovac-Niš-Preševo line (on the border with Macedonia).
The contract which was signed earlier this year involves reconstruction and replacement of construction and electrical infrastructure, and the deadline is 351 days.
